Alexi Lalas

 

“I fell in love with soccer and it changed my life. I’m just trying to help make it safer for future generations to fall in love with soccer.”

While in high school, Alexi played and excelled at hockey and soccer. As captain of the hockey team, he won the state championship and as a member of the soccer team, he was named Michigan High School player of the year in his senior year. In 1988, he began his collegiate career at Rutgers University where he played on the men’s soccer team. Be the end, Alexi was a three-time All-American. In 1991, Alexi joined the U.S. Men’s National Team. He played in Major League Soccer (MLS) where he won the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup, Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and MLS Cup. His experience did not stop there as he also played internationally in Italy’s Serie A and Club Sport Emelec of Ecuador. Alexi served as the general manager for multiple teams in the MLS and was elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2006. Currently, he works as a sports analyst for Fox Sports.
