Amy Griffin

 
 

“I am very passionate about supporting the HITSS research project. It is my hope that you will be as well. It is very important to female athletes, particularly future female athletes. There are many forms where equity in sports can be improved; research is a big one.”

Amy Griffin is a former US women’s national soccer team member. Growing up, Amy’s love for soccer was evident through her participation on school and club teams. For college, Amy attended University of Central Florida where she led her team to three NCAA tournament appearances and named NCAA’s Goalkeeper of the Year in 1987. Upon graduation, Amy joined the US Women’s National Team and was on the team that won the first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1991. Since retiring from playing the sport, Amy has coached numerous collegiate teams including her alma mater, San Diego State, and University of Washington. She has also served as a coach for both the under-17 women’s and under-20 women’s national teams. Currently, she is the head coach for the US Deaf Women’s National Team.
